Founded in 1975, the Children's Nursery School (CNS) is a state-licensed co-operative nursery school in Portland's West End. Our child-centered, creative program allows children to learn through discovery and exploration. Both teacher and parents guide that experience by providing a rich environment with a careful balance of structure and free play. We offer a flexible, five-day program for 17 children, ages 3 through 5. Our teacher is Kate Williams-Hewitt. Parents are not only the administrators of the school, they are the most important resources for the teachers. The teachers depend on co-op members to bring their unique personal resources to create a curriculum that reflects each year's particular group. In addition to the flexible and evolving curriculum, the school also has a rich history of tradition, including the Grand Bazaar and the Parade to the Western Promenade.
